Nerd Street Gamers to Power Summer 2021 with In-Person & Virtual Esports and Video Game Camps for Kids and Teens

by Nerd Street Gamers

PHILADELPHIA – May 14, 2021 – Nerd Street Gamers, the national esports infrastructure company, has announced Camp Localhost, its esports and gaming camp offering with both in-person and virtual sessions this summer season. Starting June 14, children and teens ages 9-17 will have the opportunity to participate in structured, week-long esports and gaming camps featuring age appropriate popular video games such as VALORANT, Rocket League, FIFA, NBA2K, League of Legends, and more.

This summer, as states begin to re-open with COVID safety measures in place, Nerd Street is launching its first-ever in-person Camp Localhost experience at their esports and gaming centers for participants in Philadelphia and St. Louis, with limited availability in order to maintain social-distancing measures. Nerd Street is also bringing back its virtual option for the second consecutive year to take its camp to gamers across the country. The virtual summer camp program was first available in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hosted over 160 gamers to date. Both 2021 Camp Localhost options will provide a worry-free and safe environment for gamers to participate in an engaging camp experience while learning valuable life skills including healthy gaming habits, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork.

“Through Camp Localhost, we are thrilled to engage and connect with more gamers in both our virtual and in-person camps this summer,” said Ben Beaver, Youth Camps and Programming Senior Manager at Nerd Street Gamers. “We’ve developed Camp Localhost programming with every gamer in mind – from hard-core to casual play – with unique opportunities and features, such as industry-leading coaches and professional-grade equipment. Whether a player chooses to participate in-person or virtually, everyone will receive a traditional summer camp experience as they reconnect with peers in a fun, safe, and educational environment.”

In-Person Camp

The Camp Localhost in-person summer camps will take place at Localhost esports and gaming centers, including Philadelphia, PA and St. Louis, MO. Each in-person camp session will run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day. Parents and guardians can sign up their camper for one or multiple camp weeks. In-person campers will have the ability to use powerful, professional-grade gaming equipment such as PCs, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, as well as engage in off-screen activities, such as indoor games and activities.

Virtual Camp

Camp Localhost’s virtual offering will provide a structured environment for participants over Discord, the popular communication platform for gamers, Monday through Friday from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. each week. The virtual camps will be organized based on specific ranges of player ranks to cater to each participant’s skill range and maximize potential growth. Participants will engage in scrimmages, online play,  Video On Demand reviews based on their skill-level, as well as Q&A’s with industry experts to learn about the different career paths available in esports.
