Overview

Ready for a gaming marathon?!
Nerd Street Gamers is proud to partner with the American Cancer Society to present Gamers vs Cancer Philadelphia! All proceeds go towards funding American Cancer Society programs and research, so why not stop by this fun 24-hour long tournament to see how you match up against other players in the Philadelphia area? We will have Fortnite, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, NBA2K20, and FIFA20, along with some FGC games such as Tekken 7, Street Fighter V, and many more. The more you fundraise the more you play! See details below for each tournament! Please note, players may bring their own peripherals (controllers and mice/keyboard alike are welcome), but we will also have peripherals on hand. Entrance into Localhost will be FREE for all that want to stop by!

Fortnite:

Format:

  • Utilizing the Bounty system, scores from each game will be taken and then added together for an aggregate score. That aggregate score will be what is registered on the leader board, regardless of the amount of games each participant plays.

Rules:

  • Regular solos only!
  • Check begins at 11 AM on Satuday morning and games will run until 8 AM on Sunday morning. Players may play as many games as they like.
  • Once players have completed a game they must keep the score screen up on screen and raise their hand for an admin to come and tally their score. Once the admin records their score the player may move onto their next match.
  • No cheating! There are usually players that are friends and attend tournaments together. Players may not advise or speak with each other while in game so as to keep the competitive integrity of the tournament intact.
  • The overall winner will be the player that has the highest single score in a game. In the event of a tie for high scores, the players with the high scores must be present at 8 AM on Sunday the 6th. Those players will then play one sudden death match to see who gets a higher score. Highest score at the end of the sudden death match will be crowned champion.
  • All decisions are at discretion of the Event Director and are final.

Scoring
Each player will receive points based on your rank, plus 25 points per kill. The highest aggregate score at the end of the marathon will be announced as the winner. Important! All proceeds go towards ACS and cancer research. Below please find the following placements and corresponding scores:
1=300
2=225
3=190
4=165
5=145
6=130
7=115
8=100
9=85
10=70
11-12=60
13-15=50
16-20=40
21+=0

Players will then take their placement score and add on 25 points for each kill they earned to calculate their Total Score. ex. An 8th place finish earns 100 points plus three kills adds on 75 points for a total score of 175.

Payment & Prize Pool:
$5 gets a player access to the tournament for the whole day. Important! Players may play as many times as they like. Players may be asked to break in the event of a queue for games.

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate:

Format:

  • Players are invited to compete in a Swiss style tournament. All competitors will be entered into a long-running Swiss tournament where the winner of each game will then be matched with a winner from another match, while the loser from a match will be paired with another loser from a separate match. At the end of the marathon, the participant with the most total wins under their belt will be crowned the champion! Each participant may purchase a ticket for $5 which allows them unlimited games to play. All proceeds go towards the ACS and cancer research.

Rules:

  • Solo, 1v1 Matches!
  • Check in is at 11 AM on Satuday morning and the competition will run until 8 AM on Sunday morning. Players may start and play their games at any time during this window, but must complete their games prior to 8 AM on Sunday. For example, a player may arrive at 7 PM on Saturday and begin competing, or a player may show up right at 11 AM on Saturday and begin competing. If two players are in the middle of a game and 8 AM hits on Sunday, the players may finish that game but may not compete in any additional despite having any outstanding games to play.
  • Once players have completed a game they must keep the score screen up on screen and raise their hand for an admin to come and tally their result. Once the admin records their results the players will be assigned to their next match.
  • In the event a competitor has nobody to play against, the competitor will compete against the highest level of A.I. Mario. This will apply to all competitors, whether they won or lost their last match, or if they have just arrived and the next match is their first.
  • No cheating! There are usually players that are friends and attend tournaments together. Players may not advise or speak with each other while in game so as to keep the competitive integrity of the tournament intact.
  • All decisions are at discretion of the Event Director and are final.

Scoring:
The aggregate amount of wins will determine a winner. Whichever competitor has won the most matches at the end of the marathon tournament will be crowned champion. Playoffs will occur at 8 AM on Sunday in the event of a tie. If a player tied for highest win count but is not present at 8 AM on Sunday for the playoff then they are DQ'd.
