FEBRUARY 27, 2020 – Nerd Street Gamers, the national esports infrastructure company dedicated to powering competitive opportunities for gamers, has added Comcast Spectacor’s Tucker Roberts to its board of directors.

“Tucker is an invaluable addition to our team as we grow esports infrastructure across the nation,” said John Fazio, Founder and CEO of Nerd Street Gamers. “We recognize the opportunities presented to traditional sport athletes and share the vision of a future where competitive gamers have access to the same level of leagues, facilities, scholarships, education and careers.”

Roberts serves as president of Comcast Spectacor’s gaming division and the Philadelphia Fusion, one of 20 professional esports teams competing in Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch League. He joined Comcast Spectacor in 2017 as a strategic advisor, leading the development of the Fusion’s roster and operations. He was named president of the Fusion in 2018 and played an instrumental role in creating Fusion Arena, a 3,500-seat, purpose-built esports stadium slated to open in 2021 within the Philadelphia Sports Complex. Roberts also guided the formation of T1 Entertainment & Sports, Comcast Spectacor’s global esports joint venture with SK Telecom.

“Nerd Street Gamers has a strong vision for the development of gaming infrastructure across
the U.S.,” Roberts said. “The company is growing a community that connects gamers from all walks of life, while providing an amateur talent pipeline to the pro-gaming ranks.”

Comcast Spectacor, a professional sports and live entertainment company that owns and operates the Wells Fargo Center arena and the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, announced a strategic investment in Nerd Street Gamers in June of 2018 and also took part in the company’s October 2019 Series A round, which raised $12 million. Comcast Spectacor continues to support the advancement of a national framework for in-person esports competition and player development.

“Tucker had the foresight to see that Nerd Street Gamers would be an expansionary market force in our earliest days,” continued Fazio. “We are honored to have him join us on our mission to bring esports to everyone.”
